Bedrooms & Facilities
At Plymstock, we have 18 individually decorated bedrooms, two of which can be set up as twin rooms for residents who may feel lonely and prefer to share. 10 of our rooms are en-suite. Our rooms are furnished with reclining beds, comfortable chairs and wardrobes.
We encourage relatives to bring in personal, sentimental items to personalise the room and help bring comfort to loved ones.
Personal items can include old photographs (please be mindful of bringing in new photos as these can cause anxiety), a favourite blanket, or a chair. We want to make sure that our residents feel completely comfortable and at home in their surroundings.
At nighttime, before falling asleep, our staff team sit with our residents and talks about some of the items in their rooms to help bring them comfort. If you bring a favourite blanket, having this brushed against the face can really help people with advanced stages of dementia to feel more settled.
If required, rooms can include discreet motion sensors and door alarms. Floor mats can also be added for extra safety or when motion sensors are not appropriate; all monitors are subject to individual needs and mental capacity assessments.
