Trainee Registered Manager

From the estimated 7 or 8 Shift Leaders needed, Wisteria House will be offering the option for 2 Shift Leaders to train as a Trainee Registered Manager.  This will involve completing a LMS Level 5 and growing in your working role in Management and Leadership skills.  You will be able to review care plans and risk assessments but will be trained on how to write extensive care plans and risk assessments.  You will have hands on experience in all areas of management to later covering management weekend working in charge, sickness and holiday cover.  You will have the support and experience from all 3 full time Registered Managers and their specialisms Quality of Life (to include reducing stress and anxiety for people living with a Dementia), Health Care and Compliance.  

   Shift Leader

(also known as Senior Care or Team Leader in other care homes).

You will be part of a team of shift leaders, there will be 2 shift leaders on duty at any one time caring for 33 residents with Dementia.  Your main responsibilities will be to administer, order, store and audit medications.  Coaching and guidance to the care staff team.  Review Care Plans and Risk Assessments.  Assist with outside professionals i.e. District Nurse, Doctors, Ambulance crew, etc.  Reporting to the Registered Manager for Health Care who is one of a team of 3 registered managers (full time) who are on duty 7 days a week.  

   Quality of Life

You will be a part of a team of Quality of Life staff, there will be 2 on shift from 8am to 9pm (shared shifts), seven days per week, improving the Quality of Life for 33 residents living with a Dementia.  Your main responsibilities will be to offer relationship care, independent stimulation, group activities, sensory stimulation, trips out, themed parties. You will be trained to have an extensive knowledge on how to reduce anxieties and stress for a person living with a Dementia.  Reporting to the Registered Manager for Quality of Life who is one of our 3 full time Registered Managers who are on duty spread across 7 days a week. 

   Care Staff - Days

You will be a part of a team of Care Staff, of which there will be 4 Care Staff on from 8am to 8pm (can be split shifts), seven days per week, caring for 33 residents living with a Dementia.  Your main responsibilities will be to offer assistance with day to day personal care and offer relationship care.  This will include the use of manual handling equipment and complete relevant documentation within your role.  Reporting to Shift Leaders (2 per shift) or the Registered Manager for Health Care.

   Waking Night Manager

You will be a part of a team of Night Staff, there will be 4 night staff on duty from 8pm to 8am, seven days per week, caring for 33 residents living with a Dementia.  Your main responsibilities will be to offer assistance with day to day personal care.  This will include the use of manual handling equipment and complete relevant documentation within your role, administer and record medication relevant to night time care.  Coach and give guidance to other waking night staff on duty.  Assist with any emergency outside professionals - District Nurses, Doctors, Ambulance, Funeral Directors, etc.  Produce a rota and supervise the night staff team.  Writing and Reviewing of Night Care Plans and Risk Assessments (training given).  Complete once a month, an unannounced inspection of your staff team during the night. Reporting to a team of 3 Registered Managers (full time) who are on duty spread across 7 days per week. 

   Waking Night Lead

You will be a part of a team of Night Staff, there will be 4 night staff on duty from 8pm to 8am, seven days per week, caring for 33 residents living with a Dementia.  Your main responsibilities will be to offer assistance with day to day personal care.  This will include the use of manual handling equipment and completing relevant documentation within your role.  You will be required to make any relevant decision as when required or telephone the on call manager for support.  Administer and record medicaiton relevant to night time care.  Coach and give guidance to the waking night staff.  Assist with any emergency on-call outside professionals - District Nurses, Doctors, Ambulance, Funeral Directors, etc.  Reporting to the Waking Night Manager or one of the 3 full time Registered Managers who are on duty spread across 7 days per week.

   Care Staff - Nights

You will be a part of a team of Night Staff, there will 4 Night staff on from 8pm to 8am seven days per week, caring for 33 residnets living with a Dementia.  Your main responsibiliteis will be to offer assistance with day to day personal care.  This will include the use of manual handling equipment and complete relevant documentation within your role.  Reporting to Night Staff Lead or Waking Night Manager, one will always be available each night.

   Lead Housekeeper

You will be a part of a team of Housekeepers, there will be 2 Housekeepers on 5 hours per day, seven days per week, within a building that has 4 lounges and 33 bedrooms, split across 2 levels.  Each Housekeeper taking responsibility for one floor.  Your role involves general cleaning, relationship care to the people living in the home which can involve supporting a few individuals living with a Dementia who enjoy cleaning their own room.  Completing records relevant to your role.  Completing a rota of Housekeepers for the Compliance Manager and any relevant audits/records required.  Support and give guidance to other Housekeepers, reporting to the Compliance Registered Manager.

   Housekeeper

You will be a part of a team of Housekeepers, there will be 2 Housekeepers working 5 hours per day, seven days per week, within a building that has 4 lounges and 33 bedrooms split across 2 levels.  Each Housekeeper taking responsibility for one floor.  Your role involves general cleaning, offering relationship care to the people living in the home which can involve supporting a few individuals living in the home who enjoy cleaning their own room.  Complete any records relevant to your role.  Reporting to the Lead Housekeeper or to the Registered Manager for Compliance.

   Lead Cook

You will be a part of a team of Cooks, there will be one Cook and one Kitchen Assistant on duty per day, seven day per week cooking for 33 residents and approximately 16 staff per day (plus any requests from night staff of meals to be put back).  Your role involves preparing, cooking a choice of 2 meals (one being a healthy option), and one that can be a soft meal option, plus a choice of 2 puddings.  Most meals and snacks are likely to be of a traditional nature.  Frequently (weekly) preparing themed party food, buffets, cream teas, etc.  You will need to be flexible to allow for people's special dietary requirements.  You will be a part of a whole home supportive staff team and you will have assistance from the staff team with serving and clearing and cleaning of all crockery and cutlery etc, plus there will be help from the care staff team overseeing breakfast.  You will be required to order all food and assess stock rotation dates, complete a staff rota for the kitchen staff team.  Complete any records relevant to the kitchen (fridge temperatures, etc).  You will have a good understanding of Environmental Inspections (training given), support and give training and guidance to other kitchen staff.  You will have the support and guidance of and report to the Compliance Manager.  

   Cook / Kitchen Assistant

   Laundry Staff

You will be a part of a small team of Laundry Staff, there will be one Laundry person on, seven days per week.  You will be supported by Care staff and Waking Night Staff depending upon level of work load each day.  Your role will include sorting, cleaning, ironing and putting away clothes and bedding.  You will be required to keep the Laundry appropriately tidy and clean.  Complete any records relevant to the Laundry.  You will be expected to offer relationship care, which can include supporting a few people living in the home who like to put away and sort their own clothes etc.  You will report to the Registered Manager for Compliance.

   Part Time Maintenance/Handyman

You will be involved in all aspects of Maintenance.  Complete all audits/records relevant to your role. Call out trades that we regularly use when necessary or organise and seek quotes from various contractors when required.  You need to be very flexible and will be encouraged to support people living with a Dementia who want to help you in your role. Going to local store to pick up parts needed in your job, picking up other bits that we may have forgotten to order and need. Reporting to the Registered Manager for Compliance. Hours and days are flexible.

   Part Time Gardener

An evolving role, but will involve planting and picking fruit and vegetables, planting and maintaining pots, hanging baskets etc, collecting eggs from the Chicken run, keeping the outdoor areas neat, clean and tidy, mowing, weeding, strimming and looking after existing planting and trees. You will also be encouraged to support people living with a Dementia who enjoy being productive, being outdoors and want to help. You will report to the Registered Manager for Compliance. Hours and days are flexible.
