Our Garden

Our large, one-acre garden is a favourite with our residents. Split into easily accessible sections, there is always something to see and do. The listed trees provide plenty of dappled shade, and one of the particularly large beech trees just outside the garden lounge is bedecked with lights, providing a beautiful light show at night.

In the summer, our paddling pool is well used for feet dipping. We enjoy hosting BBQ parties, a children's sports day and finding any other reason to throw a party and improve the quality of life for the people living in the home.  
There’s a large patio just off the Garden Room with tables and comfy chairs. It’s a popular spot for dinner, drinks and snacks with relatives and friends. We have lots of garden activities and games, including bubbles, bats, balls, skipping ropes and hula hoops

Level paths lead all around the garden, and there are many places to sit, enjoy the sunshine, listen to the birdsong and spot the squirrels! We also have a double swing, which we can use to distract our more mobile residents and also to reduce stress.

Behind our sheds, there’s a productive garden area where we can grow runner beans, tomatoes, strawberries and herbs. Some of our residents like to help with planting and watering, but most are happiest helping to pick what we’ve grown. Our gardener always appreciates any help and advice on offer.

In our sensory garden, we grow plants that emit familiar smells, such as mint, rosemary, curry plant, fennel and basil. The sensory garden is sheltered and shady, providing a calm, breeze-free space.

At the back of the home lies the enchanting woodland garden. Popular with wheelchair users and people who can walk short distances, it’s perfect for a spot of wildlife watching. To the side of the woodland is the quiet hosta garden, a wonderful place to sit and relax.
